FRANKFURT (Reuters) -A gathering between Commerzbank (ETR:) and UniCredit bankers on Friday can be held just about within the morning, an individual with direct data of the matter informed Reuters.
The assembly is a primary spherical of talks between the 2 banks because the Italian lender presses for a potential tie-up and Commerzbank hones its defence.
It was not instantly clear which executives from the banks could be current, though insiders have mentioned UniCredit’s chief Andrea Orcel wouldn’t be there.
Commerzbank’s designated CEO Bettina Orlopp informed a monetary convention in London on Thursday that the 2 banks would meet to “change views” now that UniCredit was a shareholder.
It’s a first encounter between Germany and Italy’s No. 2 banks since UniCredit earlier this month revealed it had purchased a 9% stake in Commerzbank, mentioned it deliberate to purchase extra shares and pressed for discussions to discover a tie-up.
